Silence broken by the sound of footsteps rapidly pounding against the marble floors. Luminous grey eyes searching for an escape, but there was none. Every door touched locked and every window pushed frozen solid. He screamed, but there was no sound coming from his red stained lips. The blood moon was overhead as if to say it was taking it’s gift away. The vampire ran from an invisible foe, but it was no use. So he stopped, stopped with a crazed look of fear upon his marble features. The vampire stared into the shadows, luminous grey eyes begging for life, but it seemed the shadows weren’t so kind. He whispered his beloved’s name before baring his fangs and fighting the darkness, but the darkness devoured him.
She awoke, eyes flying open and hand to her chest. The nightmare had startled her so badly that she was shaking. Sophie stifled the small sob that was breaking through her chest and her eyes held back the tears which wanted so badly to fall. The pain felt like the waves of a resounding ocean which refused to call her it's own. She held herself for a moment. Her slender arms cradling the body he loved so dearly. She couldn’t bear to think of him lying in his own blood burning as the sun came to take him away from her. When the shaking had stopped and her nerves had calmed, Seph slipped quietly out of her bed. With careful hands she picked up her athletic bag and was out of the dorms. There was no curfew nor restriction on wandering the halls at night, but Seph didn’t like to wake anyone. After all she was so used to sneaking around with Luka at such late an hour.
The Siren made her way quietly through the corridors and out the main doors. With uneasy steps she made her way to the pantheon where she changed into her swimsuit. The two piece was specifically designed so that when she shifted the bottom would snap away with ease. She sat at the edge of the pool staring at the waters. Her feet dangled for a moment as she frowned. The water held no comfort without him. It seemed that it’s usual power of happiness had disappeared and she was just as depressed in the water and out of it. Seph slipped into the pool her legs glowing as they took their form. As her suit bottoms floated to the top of the pool she grabbed them tossing them to her athletic bag before swimming out to the middle of the pool.
Lying motionless, she floated on her back as she stared at the glass ceiling of the pantheon. There she could see the immense black of the sky with its myriad of loving stars. How she hoped Luka was one of them. She flicked her silver-blue tail sending a spray of water up and over her. It came down like rain to refresh her skin. She loved him more than her very own life and it all seemed so worthless without him. “I see the moon, the moon sees me…” She sang softly to herself as she placed a hand over her stomach. They had been planning to have children together using methods humans had when a man couldn't impregnate his spouse, but as she sang the heart breaking lullaby she knew those plans were long gone. The ring on her finger meant nothing anymore and the promises she had made to him for the course of their years together had dissipated into a cloud of ash. “The moon sees somebody so special to me…” A single tear rolled down her face as she released an ear shattering scream.
The water illuminated by her voice exploded around her falling back down in droplets of sorrowful rain. She wrapped her arms around her body wondering when all the pain would stop. She was vulnerable there, exposed for what she really was, but nothing mattered anymore. “Let them come... I won't stop until every one of them suffers for what they took away from me.” Though it was dark the siren bore a menacing look, her green eyes luminous, seering in the dark.

Blinking her eyes, Ettie awoke to find herself sitting at her desk in her classroom. Yawning, and stretching her arms, she looked up to the clock on the wall to see the time. 2:37 am. "Oh my goodness." She murmured to herself in shock. It seemed she had fallen asleep while grading tests. She really should learn to get such things done earlier so she wasn't always finding herself staying so late at the school. She should have been in bed at home, nice and cozy. Not waking up to find herself in her classroom. Shaking herself awake, she stood and quickly gathered her things into her old leather book bag, and grabbed her jacket off the back of her chair.
Soon she was scurrying down the halls on her way out to the front, wondering exactly how she was going to get home safely. Her thoughts were soon shattered by a rather terrifying scream. The faery stopped in her tracks, not sure if she should investigate or not. Finally, she decided if she didn't, it might be her fault if someone was hurt and she didn't help them. So, she slowly made her way in the direction of the scream.
Following the general direction of where she thought the scream came form, Etiennette found herself in the pantheon, otherwise known as the school gym. Wandering in, she was very relieved to see that there was no blood anywhere, just someone with a silvery tail, swimming in the pool. Approaching, she saw that it was Sephora Van Der Veldt, the head nurse at the school. She hadn't really talked much with Sephora before, and didn't know her very well, but being as it sounded like she'd been screaming a moment before it seemed a good idea to check and see if she was alright. "Umm, are you alright?" She asked rather bluntly. The woman appeared to be just fine, though she'd been screaming, Ettie was sure of it, and now she was just a bit curious as to what the screaming was all about. 343 words, outfit, hope you don't mind me popping in |

At the sound of a voice, Seph tucked her tail beneath her floating upright with only her eyes peering over the surface of the water. It was a signature look for her kind. In the times when they allured seafaring men to their deaths, they would hide their tails only flashing their sweet smiles and pretty faces until the boats were close enough to ransack, destroy or crash into the rocks. After those times, it was learned habit that many used as a defense against those who meant them harm. After all even with their noses submerged, Sirens had the ability to breath underwater and while it looked uncomfortable for some it never bothered the tide bound creatures. Peering at the intruder, Seph took a deep breath and pulled her head above the water realizing she was in no danger.
“Etiennette...” The name rolled off her tongue as she acknowledged her fellow staff member. The two of them hardly knew one another. When Sephora had attended St. Gabriel as a student she had been maybe seven hundred some years old and already well versed in several languages. She couldn't recall whether Etiennette had been teaching at the time, but if she had Seph never took to the language classes. The siren had been too busy with medical classes to spend anymore time versing herself, but at the sight of her acquaintance, thought maybe she should take some refresher courses between nurses shifts. “I wasn't aware anybody else was awake.”
Without another word the blonde dipped below the surface of the water disappearing for only a moment before appearing again at the edge of the pool. She was closer, able to rest her arms and head on the ledge as she allowed her tail to relax. “Just a little angry. It seemed too late to make a trip down to the coast...” Sephora shook her head slightly, sighing as she settled her illuminated eyes on Etiennette.
“Thank you for asking, but what's keeping you awake so late at night? If you don't mind me asking that is.” With a graceful gesture of her hand, Sephora motioned towards the array of empty seats on the pool deck. If she meant to stay at least Etiennette could make herself comfortable.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r71/maggiesrpstuff/BACKGROUNDS/fk5qwnjpg.png); width: 457px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30; -moz-border-radius: 35 35 35 35; -webkit-border-radius: 35 35 35 35;]hi » FIRE IT UP. Watching Sephora swimming in the pool was rather mesmerizing. Her tail was quite beautiful, and it shimmered in the water. Smiling, Ettie nodded now and then as the siren talked, in an effort to show she was listening. She had to admit though, she'd never really been angry in the middle of the night and decided swimming was the best way to cool down. Figuratively that is. Etiennette also was not a siren, and things were probably a bit different when you were a creature of the sea. The more she thought about it, the more it made sense. Of course, that didn't mean she was planning on going for a swim the next time something upset her.
Sephora finished speaking, ending with a question to Ettie about why she was up so late. "Please, call me Ettie, and I fell asleep in my classroom grading papers last night, and just woke up. Now, I'm trying to figure out some way to get back to my house." She answered. It wasn't the first time she'd fallen asleep working on something for school, but usually she was either at home, or woke up before midnight. Now her biggest dilemma was finding a way to get back home. Either that or she was going to have to sleep in her classroom tonight. "You don't happen to know of any cab services that might be open at three in the morning do you." She asked Sephora, only half serious. It probably showed in her rather sarcastic tone.
Ettie wasn't the only one here though, and she hated to see people upset, so she decided to try and cheer Sephora up. Hopefully just having someone to talk to would help the siren a bit. "Anyways, I'm glad you're alright. When I heard a scream I thought someone was dying, I came in here thinking I'd be met with a lot of blood." It was kind of ridiculous now that Etiennette thought about it, on the other hand though, this was a school of supernaturals, you never know what could happen. "Thankfully for me, you're not hurt in anyway because blood usually makes me faint. I wouldn't have been much help if I was lying unconscious on the ground now would I" She added with a laugh. Another rather ridiculous thing, blood wasn't going to hurt her at all, but it still freaked her out a bit. Well, a lot actually. Now Ettie was babbling on a bit though, and she realized Sephora might want a chance to talk. "Oh, sorry, now I'm kind of just babbling for no reason. I really have to get out of that habit." She said, another smile playing at her lips. It was true, she thought she should really try and break the habit, after three hundred seventy-two years, it might be a bit hard though. People didn't usually comment on her talkative nature negatively anyways, in fact, most people seemed to enjoy spending time with her. Maybe it wasn't that bad of a habit after all. 508 words, outfit, blah blah blah |

St. Gabriel housed a menagerie of people with different backgrounds that would make any human pale in comparison. Of course not to say that they weren't as special as a supernatural, they simply would have felt out of place in a world so full of different creatures. However it was in Seph's experience that humans could be as interesting as any supernatural and she never took their company for granted in the nurse's wing. “Ettie, that's quite a charming nickname.” Rolling the nickname around in her head a few times, Seph made a mental note of it enjoy the uniqueness of the name. “You can call me Seph, Sephie, Sophie whatever works for you.” The siren gave a friendly wink as she flicked her tail sending a spray of water in the direction opposite of them.
Seph had always loved the water and though the chlorinated kind wasn't exactly her cup of tea she enjoyed it regardless. “Actually you'd be surprised. We have a lot of night owls on Elysium, if you know what I mean.” She answered quickly giving the slight lean towards vampires. There were a lot of them on Elysian and there were a lot of businesses that catered to their night life knowing it was the only life they had. Elysian was a pleasant place that offered a lot of what the real world didn't. Sephora for instance loved the beaches and the night lifeguards who spent their time carefully watching over the young mers who often came to the island for their first ocean swim. “But I've got a car if you're not into awkward cab rides, it honestly wont' be a problem.”
There was a lot that Seph was known for. She was known for being a proud siren, her beauty and on top of that a great nurse. However it wasn't very often that she went out of her way to be extra nice. It was something that she was trying out lately in hopes it would improve her karma and give her back the things it took away. Even thought no amount of karma would bring Luka back, she did know that it would make her a better person and that's what was important.
A faint laugh left Sephora's lips as she gave a bit of a shrug. “Well that would have been horrific.” A little bit of a playfully disgusted face slipped onto her features before she laughed again. The sound was delightful. It was something akin to the sight of shimmering water or the sound of wind chimes. “I would have said you would make a lovely nurse, but we do see a lot of blood so perhaps not. After all you do a lovely job of teaching French, we wouldn't want to snag you away from that.”
With a few kick of her tail and a push with her forearms Sephora emerged from the pool revealing her silver cerulean tail as she sat at the edge. It looked difficult to move with a large tail, but for Sephora a tail was like legs to any other creature, it was easy to maneuver because every muscle was linked to her own first nature. Her silk-like fins were still submerged in the water, but now anyone could see the glittery quality of Sephora's skin and the seamless attachment of her torso to her tail. “It's only a bad habit if it bothers people and it hardly bothers me at all.” She added the little bit sincerely. It was the talkative ones that made life interesting after all.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r71/maggiesrpstuff/BACKGROUNDS/fk5qwnjpg.png); width: 457px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30; -moz-border-radius: 35 35 35 35; -webkit-border-radius: 35 35 35 35;]hi » FIRE IT UP. Her nickname had never been described as charming before, and Etiennette didn't really think of it that way. It's just what her friends and family had been calling her since she was a little girl, nothing more. Seph seemed a suitable thing to call the head nurse, and in her mind Ettie settled upon that as her nickname for the siren. Sephora seemed nice a enough, so hopefully Ettie would have a chance to spend more time with her and put the name into use.
It hadn't really occurred to her that Elysium would have services open late for those creatures who tended to favor the night. Being of faery descent, she did her best to not think about the bloodsuckers. Although she knew it wasn't right to judge an entire species by a few vampire's actions, she found it hard not to. It'd practically been bred into her after all. So, she simply tried to ignore and avoid them for the most part. In all her three hundred seventy-two years, this strategy had been fairly successful.
A car really would have been quite useful to Etiennette, but she still had yet to purchase one or get a driver's license. She'd found that just taking a cab, or the bus or walking were fine ways to get around. Plus there was the whole fact that she didn't really trust herself to be able to drive a car. Technology wasn't really her strong suit. Besides, she'd done just fine without a car for many, many years. This whole ordeal was beginning to change her mind though. "Thank you for the offer, but I wouldn't want to trouble you and I don't mind taking a cab." She replied to Seph with a friendly smile. Ettie really didn't want to bother Sephora with having to drive to Petit Fleur at three in the morning. so she'd just have to try and find a cab service to call. There was probably an app or something for that on her phone, so it wouldn't be a problem. Other than the fact that she barely new how to use her phone let alone download and use an app for it. She'd have to learn quickly then.
She laughed at Seph's comment about her making a lovely nurse. "Yeah, I think I'll stick to teaching french, it's what I'm good at. I'd probably be more trouble than help as a nurse anyway." She said with another laugh. It really was hysterical to think of her as a nurse, it wouldn't work out very well at all. She'd spend most of her time laying unconscious on the ground. Not a very good way to be helpful as a nurse.
At least her talkative nature didn't bother Sephora at all. Her mother had always told her she needed to learn to quiet down a bit, perhaps that was why she was so self conscious about her being so talkative. Even if she didn't like to admit it, Etiennette did care about what her mother thought of her. Unfortunately it always seemed her mother was quite displeased with her. They had different views and ideas on a lot of things though, and never really did see eye to eye. Her mother could have changed a bit over the years though, being as it'd been a long time since Ettie had really spent any time with her. 566 words, outfit, blah blah blah |

As a Siren there was a lot of prejudice born into her blood, but being raised by a clan that didn't care if you were black, white, fanged or furred they raided your ships and killed you all the same, changed her mentality very much. “If you say so, but if you change your mind it really wouldn't be all that much trouble for me.” There was a slight pause as she looked down at the water. “I'm used to being up this late...” She added the last bit trying to keep her thoughts away from him.
It was true Sephora had spent many nights running around in the dark or swimming in the ocean, but she hadn't been alone. The only reason she knew so much about the night life in Elysium was because she had to find things to do. Sephora had been one of the very few Sirens who fell in love with a vampire. It was against her bloodline, but it meant her no harm. While they wouldn't be able to have children she loved him all the same. He didn't lust after her for her blood, in fact he avoided it because it was poisonous. It was a selfless relationship, but it had ended before they could even seal it with marriage.
“Yeah we wouldn't want anyone getting injured from tripping over your unconscious body.” Seph left the solemn thoughts and laughed shaking her head at the thought. “How long have you been teaching Ettie?” Sephora always asked the "test" questions, as most of the people at St. Gabriel referred to them, before her conversation partner could. It wasn't that she wanted to dominate the question, she just simply didn't know how to answer them if she didn't know the other person's answer. Ettie, although, was a bit of a different case. Seph was aware that she had been here for quite a while and so lying to her about how long she had been at the school would have been futile.
Everyone who had spent enough time at St. Gabriel knew that the nurse was perpetually twenty-two, she had never changed age and never changed career. Instead she had been at the Academy for over a century too attached to her work to leave. When one had forever, a century was a blink of an eye and Sephora saw it more like her first year than her last. It didn't seem right to leave now and when it did, maybe she would go, but she doubted she'd be leaving the school anytime soon. So when she had asked the question of how long Ettie had been working, Seph didn't care for the superficial talk that supernaturals kept with the humans and the strangers. After all Sephora was sitting in her natural form right in front of Ettie, there was nothing much to hide from that.

The night wasn't really Ettie's time of day, she preferred mornings most of the time. She just found them ever so relaxing. But, to each their own right? If Sephora liked to be up in the middle of the night, that was her business. Etiennette personally preferred to sleep, but whatever.
Her thoughts left the night, and moved to an image of some poor student tripping over her as she lay unconscious on the floor. It seemed quite comical and she couldn't help but laugh along with Sephora. It seemed Ettie had managed to take her mind off whatever was upsetting her before.
Teaching was Etiennette's one true love. At least, that's how she thought of it. She'd only just recently discovered this love, but it truly was her deepest love. She'd never had a job so challenging and yet so rewarding. It was the best thing that ever happened to her. It was just a shame it couldn't have happened sooner.
"I've been teaching here at St. Gabriel about three years now." Came her light and cheerful reply. "I hadn't had any teaching experience or education before I started, but I've been speaking french for over three hundred years, so I guess that qualifies me to teach it." She added with a laugh. It was always a wonder to Etiennette how she'd gotten her job in the first place, she had no education in teaching, all she had was experience, but I guess they saw something in her.
"What about you, how long have you been a nurse?" Her question directed the attention back on Sephora. Though the siren had made it clear it was alright that Ettie talk her ear off, but Etiennette really needed to work on not having one-sided conversations. So she attempted to keep things flowing fairly evenly. 303 words, outfit, blah blah blah |

The two of them were not far from one another. They came from similar species that were categorized as the beautiful and were it not for Luka’s inability to see daylight, Sephora would have, as of lately, been more of a morning person. However, she learned to see the beauty in the night and found it as equally pleasurable as the sun of the morning. There was still no defeating the feel of the sun on her tail and skin, that she could never deny, but still there were other differences in them. Sephora while be able to love a vampire, would not be able to do so if she were in Ettie’s position. Faeries were not fans of vampires nor a vampire’s taste for Faery blood. However, Sephora was only vaguely aware of Ettie’s species.
Seph always caught up to know the staff. Her ears were attuned to gossip and she never failed to stop by Alexander’s office to inquire on any new staffies. It was in her nature to keep tabs on the people she worked with. After all, Siren clans never had to worry about watching their back around their own, but this was a new ocean with different fish and she’d have to keep up if she wanted to keep her scales. There were countless faces that came to St. Gabriel. If she cared to remember them all, Sephora could name each one. So many gone and so many come, several hundred years attested to the fact that not many could withstand the secrets and oddities of the school.
“Do you like it so far? Not many people stay to four years to see their first students graduate, but you don’t seem like the type who would leave so soon.” Seph laid herself down on the pool deck stretching and relaxing her back as her tail dangled in the water. The artificial lights overhead were warming and a beautiful installation to the new pool area. It was like false daylight, warm, but harmless to the vampires who wanted to feel warmth in winter as well. There were a lot of new innovations added to the ancient school. ”I hear you do such a wonderful job of it, we don’t retain many of the foreign language professors here so it’s a relief to have someone with such expertise.”
As she twisted her hair into a long, but loose braid her eyes flickered back to Ettie’s face. Carefully she thought for a moment trying to account how long it had actually been. “Oh my I couldn’t even tell you …” Her fingers tugged lightly at a few of the flaxen strands as she let an exhale of air pass her lips. “It’s been about two-hundred years? Give or take a century, occasionally I’ll take a break and go travel before coming back to be a student.” It seemed casual to talk about it that way. For the blonde, centuries were like days and decades like seconds. They passed without much notice, but they were still as sweet and valuable to her as they might have been for a mortal. Luckily she was speaking to another long-lived creature who would understand the way she spent her time.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r71/maggiesrpstuff/BACKGROUNDS/fk5qwnjpg.png); width: 457px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30; -moz-border-radius: 35 35 35 35; -webkit-border-radius: 35 35 35 35;]hi » FIRE IT UP. Not the type to leave huh? The comment rolled around in Ettie's head for a moment. Sure, she loved her job and teaching was a wonderful experience, but, she never did like staying in one place for too long. Traveling was a part of her, and she often found herself longing to head out and explore the world more. In this modern age there was no limit to where she could go, what she could see. The only thing keeping her in place was the danger of the holy cross. Yes, she loved her students, and her job, but she longed to travel again, even if it had only been three years.
With a smile she acknowledged the comment, but refrained from answering, instead focusing on the next thing said. "Well, thank you! I do try my best." She replied with a smile. Etiennette didn't really think of herself as an expert in teaching, she hadn't even taken any courses on the subject, but she was very good with the french language, and she did her best to teach her students. She had a passion for the language of her country, and wanted her students to experience the beauty of the french language. Maybe that was all it took to be a good teacher, to have a passion for what you're teaching.
"You must really enjoy what you're doing to be at it for so long" Etiennete replied a hint of amazement in her voice. Ettie had been around for a long time, but she never really stuck to one thing for an extended period of time, on top of that she was always moving around, and couldn't really keep one job for a long time anyway. "I've never really had one job for an extended period of time, I did a lot of traveling before I came here. I don't really like staying in one place for too long really, travel excites me." A dreamy smile spread across her face as she thought of some of her favorite destinations. She always loved to visit Paris now and then, though she never stayed long. Just long enough to hear the latest news on her family, and maybe visit with a few relatives. The last time she'd been to the city though was for her father's funeral, and that was some time ago. She'd have to go and visit sometime, once it was a bit safer of course.
"What about you? You said you did some travelling. Where did you like visiting best?" Ettie inquired as a means to keep the conversation going. She loved to chat, though it was getting late and she really should have been heading home. It was nice getting to know Sephora. "I personally enjoy visiting Paris. It's my home, the place I always go back to." She added. 473 words, outfit, blah blah blah |
