The air was crisp and cold as it seeped through the crack of an open window. The smell of wet leaves filtered in with the dying sunlight as the sun cascaded down into the horizon. Reds, yellows and oranges cascaded over the black of a closed casket. It’s owner, resting peacefully within had purchased the casket for three reasons. Firstly he was a vampire and theatrics amused him greatly. It seemed so comfortably peaceful he didn’t see a reason why he wouldn’t sleep in one. Secondly he disliked greatly to be bothered in his rest and he knew that there were students whom he would room next to that would have late night fiascos that he’d rather not know about. Lastly, Alex was not one to be fucked with. Opening the casket was almost impossible. The lock mechanism on the door was created with a military grade metal reinforcement and the casket itself could survive a nuclear blast if need be. Therefore anyone who decided to play with the vampire would find themselves in a sore situation once the sun set. He wasn't going to be burnt to a crisp because some moronic student decided they wanted to open his casket.
There was silence as the casket opened. The swooping motion made no sound as the timer alarmed hydraulic coffin opened up allowing the faint light to awake its sleeper, but Alex had already awoken. The vampire was long awake before his alarm had ever reached his lids. The vampire rose smoothly from his morbid bed only to look over at the empty space in the dormitory. It was very early in the semester and students were still arriving from all over the world. He had been up to his neck in transfer papers and it seemed that the Academy had drawn more attention than he had ever expected. The phenomenon was only attributed to the fact that his private isle, was no longer private. The Holy Cross was seeking a way in to dig it’s claws in, but Alex would raise hell before that ever happened.
As he extended his long legs to the ground Alex began to move through the motions of his "morning" routine. It was late in the evening, but in vampire terms it was morning. Since he had no roommate yet he didn’t bother to don any clothing to bed. Instead the tall muscular figure roamed around the room in pure nude gathering pieces of clothing from drawers as he watched the sky turn to indigo. He wondered if anyone at all would be brave enough to room with the headmaster. A small smirk traveled over his lips at the thought.
All trace of the sun had gone and he was no longer threatened by its presence. It was one of the rituals he greatly dismayed in life. He needed to see the sunlight. It was just a part of him he couldn’t deny. It was something that Marie said she admired about him. That despite the cold exterior and vampire likeness Alex liked to put off, he had kept the humanity and love life had taken away from him. At least somewhere deep down in there.
As he dressed his eyes lingered over his reflection in the mirror. A small grin rippled across his lips as he ran his fingers through his tousled blonde hair. Today was going to be a good day. With a single swoop he gathered up his workout bag and headed out of the dorms. Alex stopped in at the banquet hall's café cabernet to grab a protein shake before driving down the hillside to the cote bleue. There were hundreds of beaches all across Elysian. Each one with different scenery and each one with its own level of pollution. There was only one in particular that had been protected and kept clean of ridiculous tourists and it was the private beach owned by the academy.
Alex locked up his car and headed out onto the beach stretching his legs in full swing. With ease he glided over the sand and into the water going shin deep in order to add resistance. He ran until he reached the edge of a cliff and turned back till he hit the spot where he had started. Alex stopped and stretched to the moonlight letting the rays illuminate his pale skin. It was pointless to work out. It didn’t alter anything about him, but it definitely passed that time and it made him feel alive. At least in a human way it did. Still he was well aware of the presence which had joined him on the beach.

[/b] She said, chuckling, stretching herself. Alexander was quite attractive, and he looked even better in the moonlight, but she still wondered what he looked like before he was turned, especially how he would look in the sun. Of course, Lexi didn't have feelings for Alex that way, she hadn't felt for anyone that way, ever. The relationship - at least for her - between the two of them was more like a mentor relationship, or a sibling-like thing. Lexi grinned up at him, happy she'd been saved by him, and happy that she still had someone in the world. He was only in mid stretch when he sensed her. Lexi, his progeny, always joined him on nights like these. It was easy to enjoy each other's company when they were both so attuned to on another. Alex could feel her presence, smell her and hear the faint movement of her limbs as she caught up with him. He shook his head lightly as Lexi appeared next to him. Her bubbly voice lighting up the air as the vampire acknowledged his progeny. "Getting a little slow there Lexi dear." He kidded giving her a little nudge on the shoulder.
Alex had been against making a progeny for a very long time. Condemning them to such a permanent and unchanging existence seemed wrong, but when he met Lexi things were very much different. She was dying, abused and left alone. Her fair hair, wide eyes and innocent features reminded him so much of his daughter and leaving her to die or finishing her off seemed wrong. Now as she glimmered in the light beside him, he had no regrets. She was the delight of his life, the daughter and friend he had missed for over a thousand years.
"Car or not, I figured a progeny of mine would be able to catch up." He smirked as he gestured for her to follow him as he walked along the shoreline. With each step the tide would come in and out filling or washing away his foot prints. The cool water lapped at his feet, but to him it felt normal, warm almost. "Has work been okay?"
Alex had no doubt that Lexi could handle most things he threw at her. He didn't doubt her capabilities, in fact he was very proud at how easily adapted she became to her new life. Although every now and then he had to ask her how she was doing. It was always nice to know so he could treat her to something nice if the week was a little overwhelming.
There was after all still many things Lexi had to learn about being a vampire. Luckily for her, Xander was older and had a library of things that would make her successful and powerful as a young vampire. She, after all, needed all the advantages she could get as a new born. "Feeding has been okay?" Alex asked furrowing his brow a bit.
That was another thing Alex had been thinking about. It was something to really get used to as a vampire. Feeding, no sunlight and a few other obnoxious quirks made adjusting a little depressing at times. Over the years one gets used to it, but sometimes there are some who never quite do. He was hoping Lexi didn't mind it. He didn't want to lose another progeny. "The thirst not bugging you?" He smiled giving her another nudge.
