History» Descended from a long line of werelions, the Fairchilds were considered one of the strongest bloodlines not of werewolf descent, and because of this they were treated with respect in the supe community. For the first twenty years of his life, Jaren lived in the shadow of his parent’s legacy, in the strength of his elder brother and elder sisters, and the knowledge that one day he’d continue in the line as head of the Fairchild family.

The first attack came when he was barely fifteen. His eldest siblings, the twins Chris and Katelyn, were caught during a full moon and skinned by Holy Cross hunters. His father and second eldest sister, Lucretia, retaliated and in a second attack killed six members of the South African division of the Holy Cross before they too were killed and skinned. In an attempt to save the Fairchild line, and her barely two year old son, the Fairchild matriarch, Lauren – a white lion were from just as potent a line as the Fairchild blood – escaped South Africa with Jaren and Andrew in tow.

For years they hid in secret in New York, using Lauren’s maiden name of ‘Gatlin’ to escape the eyes of the Holy Cross. However, when Jaren and Andrew left for St. Gabriel’s, the Holy Cross attacked Lauren, killing her with a simple broken neck before they strung up her body for other supes to see. Jaren took over guardianship of his little brother, and even managed to fall in love for a little while, until a drunk driver took the mother of his son away from him.

Now he lives as a teacher at St. Gabriel’s, looking over his seventeen year old brother and his six year old son.
