Paris, France, the city of love-where the speak the language of romance. That's where Lola Williams fell in love with a man at first sight. Things like this never happened to Lola, she was quiet and reserved, but Jasper put new life in her and he claimed he loved her too. They were together a full year when Lola told him she was pregnant. She thought he would be happy, but instead he vanished without a trace. So there Lola was, literally alone in the world and set to be a single mother.
Perhaps any normal person would have put their child up for adoption, but Lola couldn't do that. She was an Earth Elemental, and Jasper had been one of Fire. Outcasts of the world if it was known what they were. She couldn't leave her child in the hands of some human family who wouldn't know what to do. Instead, Lola found refugee on Elysian Island. There she bore her son, a Fire Elemental named Kent. After Kent was about a year old though, she moved to the mainland of New York. She wanted Kent to try and live a normal life.
It was hard trying to raise a Fire Elemental when you knew next to nothing about how their powers works, all Lola really knew is that she had to fireproof everything. Easier said then done. She finally gave in and brought Kent back to Elysian for a short time, until he learned to control his powers. At thirteen she gave him a choice. St. Gabriel or a normal school and college life? Kent chose normal. He wanted to be normal. He made it through high school alright, his powers didn't get out of hand, and he only hung out with a handful of other hidden elementals at the school. It was in his senior year that he met Gretchen Monroe, a pretty Air Elemental with big green eyes and dark brown hair.
They were together all Senior year and college. Gretchen got pregnant with Rose when she was a junior in college. Kent and Gretchen never really got married, but they lived together like a family until Rose was ten years old. Kent wanted to move to Elysian Island so Rose could have better training, Gretchen wanted her to stay on the mainland. When it was all over, Rose and Kent moved to Elysian and Gretchen moved halfway across the world. Kent had gone for a psychology degree and when he learned of an opening at St. Gabriel for a Psychology teacher he jumped at the chance.
Of course Kent never taught anyone anything before, but he had extensive knowledge of his subject and after a trial year he was put on permanent. He's now been teaching at St. Gabriel for 4 years and his daughter Rose is starting her second year at the school.

Kent made small talk with the bartender, and a couple people who recognized him from the race that night. He was never much of a dancer himself but he did enjoy watching other people dance- or attempt to. His eyes had settled on the group of girls dancing to the music, but it was more of...well Kent didn't know exactly how to describe it.
The more he watched though, the more it clicked. Kent supposed it did help that one of the girls did a pirouette-like move. Ballet dancers? Or just girls being silly? At least they were having a good time. He turned his attention back to the bartender so he could get a refill when he heard a little commotion a few minutes later.
"Hey! I've been looking all over for you, wondering if you'd thought anymore on that dance." It was the voice of a man, Kent's eyes followed the sound to settle on a rather large, drunk man. Then his eyes traveled the woman he was speaking to, one of the ballet girls. "Look, I'm really sorry! I told you I'm not really interested."
Kent figured the guy would sulk away, but no. Instead he seemed to get angry fast and his voice had a threatening tone as he grabbed the girl's hand. The girl panics as she tried to get away. "Let go!! Stop it!" Then she shot Kent a pleading look. Well Kent couldn't let this thug hurt her.
He straightened and stepped over, grabbing the man's wrist with a surprisingly strong grip. "I suggest you let her go, right now." His tone was low and threatening. "Unless you'd like to spend every waking moment of your life looking over your shoulder." Menace flashed through his eyes for the briefest moment. He'd made guys with guns back down before just using his words and posture. Kent had no doubts that this guy would scare easily.
However, just to make sure, Kent slid an arm around the woman's waist. "She's here with me, and no one messes with my girls. Especially not a loser like you." He looked the man up and down and then settled his still narrowed gaze on him.
