The words were starting to all swim together, why was there such a thing as 'Lesson plans' anyway? Kent much preferred going on the fly. Psychology was all about getting in to the minds of people, how was he supposed to try any mind games if he had to go by a lesson plan? Well it didn't matter. Kent usually just submitted his lesson plans and then thought of them as guidelines. He loosely stuck to them, worming his own style in to it. After all, it was his class wasn't it? Shouldn't he be allowed to do things his own way? Kent scowled softly and sighed, closing the book of half finished plans and stood up. He needed to take a walk.
Kent loved Psychology, liked teaching it. This was his fourth year teaching the class and he knew he was improving his methods with each passing year. So far he hadn't gotten any complaints about this ways yet. He made a mental note to check in with Rose later, usually he saw her at least a couple times throughout the day. She was probably off with a couple friends or so. She would call him if she would be out late at least. Kent exhaled slowly and clasped his hands together for a couple minutes to warm them. There were certainly perks to being a Fire Elemental. He could start a fire in the fireplace and keep warm much more efficiently this time of year.
He walked down long corridor, his aim was for the front door. Maybe the fresh air would do him good. breathe some new ideas for lessons to his mind so he could finish the stupid things. He hated writing, okay that was a lie. He enjoyed writing - except when it was something he didn't want to write about. Like what he was going to teach his class that month. "Oh well." He spoke out loud, he didn't see anyone around at least, it was habit he had - talking to himself. "I'll think of something sooner or later." If that failed he would just resign to subtly asking people.

French was a beautiful language, it was one of the romance languages and just lovely to listen to. Not to mention it was the native language of Etiennette. Sometimes, it was nice to take a break from trying to teach it to a class full of students who for the most part didn't want to be there. As rewarding as teaching was, and as lovely as french was, even the most patient person would need a break sometimes. That day had been particularly hard, and Ettie was glad when her break rolled around. She practically ran out the door after all her students had cleared out. There was no destination in mind, sometimes a walk was nice to clear the head and relax though, so she found herself wondering the school. She'd met a few new people along the way, and even found some places she wasn't aware of. Her mind was far, far away from her stressful morning and she felt much more relaxed. That was what Etiennette called a successful walk.
Now, as she worked her way back to her classroom she was thinking up some ideas for projects and was bursting with excitement. Now that the stress was gone she remembered all the wonderful reasons she loved being a teacher.
Her blissful thoughts were int interrupted by the sight of a blonde haired man walking the halls. It took a moment, but Ettie recognized him as Kent Williams, the psychology teacher. She didn't know him well, or had really ever interacted with him much, but she'd heard of him from others. It was amazing that you could work in the same place as another for three years and barely know them at all, but that was life. Sometimes you were just too busy to really take the time to get to know a person. That was one of the many things Etiennette found displeasing about the modern world - the fast pace of everything. Everyone always seemed "too busy".
Ever the outgoing woman, she approached, smiling brightly all the while. "Hello! It's Kent, correct?" She said in greeting, friendly smile still pressed across her lips. 358 words, outfit, blah blah blah |

"Hello! It's Kent, correct?" Kent stopped walking and blinked a bit, completely caught off guard by the woman suddenly standing in front of him. He'd been lost in his thoughts, and silent ramblings, managing to still complain to himself about lesson plans and try to debate with himself about why no lesson plans would be better. Yet all those thoughts vanished when he was pulled back out of his world and down to reality. Finally he offered the woman a smile. "Correct you are Ms. Leclair."
Kent couldn't remember a time he had really spoken to the French teacher, but he had seen her at staff meetings and probably did a passing greeting every now and then over the last few years. "You seem to be in a particularly good mood. May I ask why?" His eyebrow arched just a moment. She was cute, he noticed that automatically, these days it was more of just an afterthought. Besides, he wished he was in as good a mood right now as she was. Maybe then his ideas would flow better.
Go down to the water dad. It'll clear your mind. Rose liked to tease him, knowing full well Kent wasn't going to be caught near a large body of water unless his dead body was floating in it. He shook his head and smiled again. "You teach the French class right?" He asked, even though he already knew the answer, but maybe a good conversation is just what he needed.

Well, she'd gotten the name right at least. You'd think that after being round for so many years and having met so many people names would just be a muddle of impossibly hard words to remember, let alone place with a face. Ettie was actually quite good with names though, in fact her memory was usually exceptional.
Etiennete was indeed in a good mood. A good long walk always relaxed her. "Oh, I just went for a walk around the school. Walking always relaxes me, and clears my mind. Now I'm just excited to start working on my next french lesson." The faery's words flowed quickly, excitement and pleasure both evident in each one. Ettie was very good at expressing her feeling, in fact, it was nearly impossible for her to not show her emotions. Every word she spoke was always filled with emotion, and her face clearly displayed how she was feeling as well. It really was quite easy to tell exactly what mood she was in most of the time. It was just who she was, who she'd always been. After over three hundred years, not much had changed about her.
She was still the same french faery girl from Paris. Over the years, her french accent had all but disappeared, but she still spoke the language fluently, thus she had become a french teacher. It was one of her favorite careers she'd ever had, it was tough at times, but extremely rewarding. "Yes, I am, and I absolutely love it." She spoke in a cheerful tone, her ever present smile as bright as ever. Sometimes people asked her why she seemed so happy most of the time, and she always told them it was just how she chose to be. She had decided long ago it was pointless to wallow in sorrow and grump around, ruining everyone else's day as well as yours. Instead, she was positive and tried to remain so all the time. It just made life so much better. "And every minute of it is wonderful." She added happily. "Well, I suppose there are sometimes I wonder why I ever decided to take this job, but in the end I remember." Ettie explained, a bit more serious than before.
Etiennette had a tendency towards talkativeness, and often when she conversed with others it was a rather one-sided thing, but she did her best to try and allow them time to speak, as such her next words formed more of a question for Kent. "You're the psychology teacher right? How do you like that?" Ettie was a naturally curious person, and loved to meet new people and learn new things. So, her question was just as much to learn more of what it was like to be a psychology teacher as it was to move the conversation forward. She was genuinely interested in hearing Mr. Williams answer. 482 words, outfit, blah blah blah |

It was kind of amusing, seeing someone so excited over their profession, over the little things. "Walks are nice, I do enjoy a good walk myself. They always help to clear the mind, well most of the time at least." He nodded, running a hand through his hair and studying her a moment. What made her tick? What made her so excited? Maybe she truly did love her class...the French language. "I wish I had that outlook on life. Happy about everything." He flashed a smile.
"Everyone has their doubts sometimes, but as long as you can always remember why you took it, that's what counts right?" Kent asked and thought a bit when Etiennette asked him about how he liked his work. "Well I love Psychology. I love studying the mind, trying to figure out what people are thinking you know? My real dream was to have my own practice. Maybe even do something with the government." He mused.
"As for teaching...well, I never actually though I would ever teach. I came back to the island for my daughter...and they agreed to give me a shot since I did have my degrees in Psych...and here I am." He explained, trying not to ramble. "I can't say I'm really used to it yet, but I do enjoy it so far...how long after you been teaching French?"

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r71/maggiesrpstuff/BACKGROUNDS/fk5qwnjpg.png); width: 457px; padding-top: 30; padding-bottom: 30; -moz-border-radius: 35 35 35 35; -webkit-border-radius: 35 35 35 35;]hi » FIRE IT UP. It had taken awhile for Ettie to see the advantage of being positive, but she'd had lots of time to figure it out. Unfortunately for Kent, he was not a long lived faery who had plenty of time to figure life out. Ettiennette often wondered if that had something to do with so many humans seeming so negative and self absorbed. She wasn't saying they all were, but many that she had met fell under that category. Perhaps if they had a bit more time i life they'd be more eager to find a better purpose for life than being grumpy and selfish. "Well, I've had a lot of time to practice my positive thinking skills." She replied with a laugh. Kent didn't really need to know the rest of her thoughts anyway.
It was intriguing, Kent's fascination with the mind. Ettie personally wasn't to big on that kind of thing. For the most part she was content to let people be, and not try and figure them out, as if they had something to hide. It actually seemed a bit rude. Some things were better left alone, and some people liked to keep secrets, well, secret. She didn't want to offend though, so simply smiled and nodded. "I see." Was her only reply. Psychology was something Ettie would never understand.
Now that was something they had in common. Etiennette had never entertained the idea of teaching before coming to the island. Much to her surprise, she actually really enjoyed it. To her it was as if she'd finally found her true calling, and was actually one of a few things keeping her from leaving the island. As much as she loved to travel, teaching was now an important part of her life she didn't want to lose anytime soon. Maybe one day she'd grow tired of it, but that day had yet to come.
"Well, like you I never thought I'd be a teacher. A few years ago though, I came to the island to get away from the Holy cross, and St. Gabriel offered me a job teaching French." Her explanation was short and sweet, though she quickly realized she'd forgotten to actually answer his question. "That was about three years ago." She added. It was a quick save, and Kent probably wouldn't even notice. 387 words, outfit, blah blah blah |

"I suppose you have had a while." Kent smiled slightly. He couldn't recall exactly what Ms. LeClair was, could easily eliminate a majority of them. "Maybe some day I'll get there." He mused, lord knows he could use a couple lessons in positive thinking some days. Then he told her a bit about Psychology and laughed at the simple response. It was the usual response someone who didn't know a thing about his subject gave him. He didn't mind though, it was just nice to talk about something he loved every now and then.
He raised an eyebrow when she mentioned the Holy Cross as she got to answering his question about how long she'd been teaching. The Holy Cross were a nasty bunch of people, and he was thankful that he hadn't had any run ins with them yet...hopefully never would. "Holy Cross, hm? Good thing you managed to get away from them." He nodded. "So we've been here nearly the same time. Teaching that is." It was nice to know he wasn't the only teacher here that never actually planned to teach.
"So where do you usually walk?" Kent asked after a minute, trying to think of a way to keep the conversation going - at least until the bell rang to signify that class was over, he didn't think that there was too much time left. "Depending on my mood I'll usually walk around the school, or out in the woods. Occasionally in the garden." He hardly went out to the woods unless he was angry or having a bad day. He liked the forest in that respect. Sometimes he guessed that was just his mother coming out in him. She always was most happy when she was in a place like the forest.

Perhaps Kent would get to her point someday, but he would surely have a lot less time to do so, and it had taken Ettie a bit longer than the average human life span. She wasn't about to dash his hopes though, and simply smiled. "Perhaps someday." She replied simply.
The Holy Cross was something Etiennette had only heard about, and never really experienced for herself. Personally, she'd never had any great suffering linked to them, and really simply tried to ignore them. The only reason she came to St. Gabriel was to escape potential danger, not because she was actually in any danger. It was cautious of her, but at the same time, she had wanted to visit North America for sometime anyway. Her move to St. Gabriel was like killing two birds with one stone. "Thankfully, I never had any encounters with them, but they seemed to be everywhere I went, and I just felt it was a good idea to move someplace a bit safer." She explained.
"Indeed we have." She replied with a smile. It really was a wonder that they'd arrived around the same time, and been working at the same school for three years and never really had a proper conversation before. The things that can happen on a walk. Ettie mused with a smile.
There wasn't really any pattern to Ettie's walks. She just walked wherever she ended up walking. It was always a bit like an adventure, you never knew where you'd end up. It actually excited her a bit. Maybe that was odd, but Etiennette had completely stopped caring about other's opinions a long time ago. That was the thing about being so long lived, you had a lot more time to learn life's lessons and put them to use. Of course there was still the odd creature who just never learned, but that was life for you.
"I just walk wherever really. It's kind of like an adventure, seeing where you'll end up." She spoke with a smile, as she thought about some of her greatest 'adventure walks'. 348 words, outfit, blah blah blah |
