Stronger than the average human, Esca takes after his faery lineage and is able to control light with practiced ease. However unlike his older counterparts he is not as skilled nor as powerful as the elders. Esca is graced with personal precognition. He is able to see the futures of others when he walks into their “plane” of life. The more attuned he is to a person the stronger the precognition becomes. However the ability is random and happens whenever something significant happens in their lives that triggers their future. Acquaintances only trigger precognitions when they are around him versus family and lovers where he is able to see their future the minute they make a vital decision.

There isn’t a lot to know about Esca. His mother was an English faery who was born and bred in Great Britain. Her love for travel unfortunately wasn’t funded by her middle-class family who had left the plane of fae without much wealth following them. So it was that Elaine participated in exchange programs starting with a trip to live with a family in Northern Scotland. Unbeknownst to her she was living with another family of working class Fae. During her semester abroad she fell in love with Joseph and before she could leave the country, he proposed to her and they vowed for a new life, in a new place to start their lives. The newly wed Brigantes sought work with Joey's cousin in Boston, Massachusetts. Joey went on to be a dockworker while Elaine was able to get her degree and began nursing.
A year after they had settled in Boston the couple had their first child, a boy by the name of Esca. He was a precious child and the couple didn’t notice anything odd about him. Like them he displayed the same characteristics of their kind. He was beautiful and charming at birth and before the age of one was displaying signs of photokinesis. However five years passed and the child hadn’t displayed another power. Both parents assumed he didn’t have one, until the age of six when Esca told his mother that he would either have a girl or twins. Thinking it was a wish for another sibling, she and her husband decided to try for another child. However during a prescreening at the gynecologist to see if she was health for another child, it was found that she was already pregnant.
It was then that she and her husband realized that their son had the power of precognition. Unlike his father who needed to touch the person in question, Esca simply had to know them. The rest of his years were spent going to school like a normal child, playing with his sister and when he was old enough working the docks with his father, saving money away for a formal college education. When he was eighteen he received a letter from St.Gabriel's Academy allowing him a full ride and a place to stay. Thrilled his family helped him pack up and sent him off knowing that the next four years of his life would be a great adventure.
Esca stayed close to his family often calling them and sending letters home and they in turn came to visit. His sister Delilah eventually came to attend the academy as a high school student and unable to stay so far away from their children, the brigantes moved to the island to continue their lives. Esca was blessed with a happy life and his sophomore year that luck doubled when he met a college freshman by the name of Katie Collins.
She was a beautiful girl with cream blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She had aspirations of becoming a doctor with her own practice. The two of them began dating shortly after the beginning of the term and continued to date for almost a year and a half after. Wanting nothing more than to spend the rest of his life with her Esca proposed and when she accepted they began their plans to marry before his eight year was up.
Only a seventh year then, Esca spent much of his time helping Katie with her work and taking her out to different places. However, one night he received the worst premonition of his life. Several options depicted the death of Katie and one her disappearance. Unsure of what to do he tried his best to stay by Katie's side to protect her. However he could have never predicted that it was his blood that drew the killer towards her.
It was only later when her friends reported that she had been abducted by a strange man in the early hours of the day at her dorm that Esca knew she was gone. He searched frantically for her, but to no avail. The only sign he received was a note which apologized for the murder of his girlfriend. The worst of the entire situation was that it was Esca's fault that Katie had died. The note explained that an intoxicating scent followed Katie and when the vampire had gone to drain her, he realized she wasn't the source. Haunted, pained and angered Esca spent the summer searching for her killer, but to no avail.
It's been a fairly painful road and while Esca is making do with the circumstances, he's still suffering. Unable to continue the hunt for the person who murdered his beloved by mistake, Esca is hoping to finish the year at St. Gabriel and find the solace that he desperately needs.
